How
do I book the musicians?
We
will send you a quotation for services, which gives the terms of service
and a deposit amount. The deposit is one-half of the total amount. Once
the deposit is received, we contract the musicians and send you a confirmation
of contract. The balance is due the day of the rehearsal or event.
Which
ensemble is right for me?
Several
factors help determine which ensemble is the best choice. Location of
the event is the main factor, along with personal taste and the style
of music you would like performed. If there is a vocalist that will be
performing, then we suggest an ensemble that is based on a keyboard, harp
or guitar. If you are wanting an ensemble to perform at both wedding and
reception, we will suggest the best and most economical choice.
What
time is included for the price?
The
price for a ceremony includes half hour of pre-ceremony music, and up
to forty minutes for the processionals, ceremony, and recessionals.
Most standard wedding ceremonies are easily covered in this time frame.
Certain factors (ceremonies including Communion, homily or additional
vocals) may increase this time and extra fees would be assessed. We require
our musicians to report on a job fifteen minutes before they are to perform.
Reception times may be contracted for one hour and a half, two hours or
more, as needed. Most standard receptions that will not include dancing,
serving of a seated dinner or alcoholic beverages usually require no more
than 1.5 hours of music.
How
do I choose music?
We
will help you choose all your music and encourage you to choose especially
the ceremony music for your processionals, recessionals and any special
music during the wedding ceremony and reception. You may choose all of
your music or any portion. We have extensive collections of music of all
varieties and endeavor to make selections that are appropriate to your
location, style, instrumentation and personal taste; we like to include
music that is distinctive and unique.
Will
you work with outside musicians?
Yes,
we will work with musicians not contracted by our company. This may
require rehearsal time before the ceremony.
Is
there travel expense?
Travel
expenses are assessed and quoted for contracts in outlying areas from
Nashville. Cartage may be assessed for certain instruments such as the
harp and keyboard, which require additional time to load in, setup, etc.
If there is a change of location between a ceremony and reception site
that requires the musicians to travel by car, then an additional fee may
be assessed.
Are there any extra
fees or hidden costs?
We
try not to have hidden costs. Extra fees would include mileage and cartage,
rehearsal with outside musicians, or additional performance time that
occurs or is requested by client (see "Is there travel expense?"
question above).
Where
do you hire the musicians from?
Nashville
is fortunate to have a community of world-class musicians. We hire players
who are recording artists, performers and educators. Many of our musicians
work in the recording industry as session players. We hire musicians who
are affiliated with Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Nashville Chamber Orchestra,
Middle Tennessee Orchestra, Belmont University Camerata, Nashville String
Machine (recording orchestra), and from area universities - Vanderbilt,
Belmont, Lipscomb, Trevecca, Cumberland and Middle Tennessee State Universities.
Our Musicians are auditioned and contracted for each event based on their
unique musical skills.
Do
I need a sound system or amplification?
Certain
settings and groups require amplification - it is well to consider a
sound system for outdoor settings, especially if they involve a vocalist.
A sound system is NOT included in any pricing with exception of a Jazz
ensemble including a vocalist. Fees for a sound system include delivery,
setup and return and is subject to availability. Certain individual
instruments may require small amplification - such as the harp, keyboard
and guitar, depending on the setting. The musicians for these instruments
bring their own amplification if needed and additional cartage fees
would be assessed.
Will
you perform at outdoor events?
Yes;
due to the great expense of quality instrument (for example a harp may
cost from $15,000 to $30,000) and the risk of inclement weather or conditions,
we require clients with outdoor events to sign a performance rider.
This is to protect our musicians' instruments that are easily damaged
by extreme conditions such as heat, humidity, exposure to intense sunlight,
precipitation of any kind and cold.
